NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. - Gaylord National Resort is pleased to shine the spotlight on local wineries with the first of a new quarterly wine dinner series featuring Barrel Oak Winery. The dinner will be at award-winning Old Hickory Steakhouse on April 19, 2024, and is being hosted by Wine Maker and Sommelier, Maria Levitt.
A selection of Barrel Oak wines voted 2023's Best of Fauquier, chosen carefully by Levitt, will be paired with five-courses including oyster golgappa, persillade halibut and braised short rib. Executive Chef Jakob Esko found the unique tastes and smells of each wine to be an exciting challenge while curating the menu with Levitt. He said, "We were able to pull in several flavors and dishes that will perfectly complement the unique tasting notes to offer guests a perfect balance with each dish."
The intimate evening will allow for 30 guests in the cozy, elegant setting of the 2023 LIV Hospitality Interior Design Award Winner, Old Hickory Steakhouse. Paul Pace, the director of food and beverage, expressed excitement about hosting a new series in the steakhouse. He said, "As we're on the cusp of the second year following the restaurant remodel, we look forward to partnering with Barrel Oak and presenting what the local winery has to offer."
Dates for the rest of the series will be announced in the coming months. Different, local wineries will be represented each time, with a new menu curated to the selected wines. "It's only natural to host exceptional nights for the community," Pace said. "To highlight the best wines the DMV has to offer and organize menus around them is a bonus."
Tickets are $150 per person and can be purchased through this link: Old Hickory Steakhouse National Harbor | Barrel Oak Wine Dinner (sevenrooms.com).
