Bethesda, Md. — Scott Siebert has been named General Manager of the Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention Center, effective Feb. 3, 2024. The hotel, currently under construction in Chula Vista, Calif., is expected to open in summer 2025.
With an illustrious, 35-year career in the hospitality industry, Siebert most recently served as Hotel Manager at Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn., a position he has held since 2021. No stranger to operating large-scale resorts, Siebert previously served as Area General Manager over five Marriott International-managed properties in Charlotte, N.C. Throughout his career, he also served as Food and Beverage Director, and later Resort Manager, at the JW Marriott Hill Country San Antonio, as well as in key leadership positions at the Eden Roc Miami Beach Resort in Florida and JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort and Spa in Arizona.
"We are delighted to welcome Scott to the Gaylord Pacific," said John Adams, Vice President and Managing Director of Gaylord Hotels at Marriott International. "His extensive hospitality experience, commitment to excellence and understanding of our Gaylord Hotels culture makes him the ideal leader to chart the future of our newest resort."
The Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention Center, a key component of the Chula Vista Bayfront, is located seven miles from the city of San Diego and only 10 miles from San Diego International Airport. When complete, the resort will feature 1,600 guest rooms and suites, 10 dining venues, a full-service spa, water park and more than 488,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. Guests will be treated to 360-degree views of scenic San Diego Bay to the west and Chula Vista Marina to the south, providing unobstructed views across the bay and on to the Pacific Ocean. The resort is currently booking meetings, conventions and other events with arrivals after Sept. 1, 2025.
The new resort is being developed by RIDA Development Corporation and will be operated by Marriott International.
"I am honored and thrilled to embark on this journey at Gaylord Pacific," said Siebert. "While every Gaylord Hotels property boasts its own distinctive charm, the overarching culture remains consistently the same - delivering extraordinary service and one-of-a-kind experiences for our guests. It is a privilege for me to lead the new team responsible for bringing the essence of Gaylord Hotels to life on the West Coast."
Gaylord Pacific will be the sixth Gaylord Hotel in the United States, joining resorts in Nashville, Tenn. (Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center), Kissimmee, Fla. (Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center), Grapevine, Texas (Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center), Aurora, Colo. (Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center), and National Harbor, Md. (Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center).
"It is with great excitement that we mark the important milestone of hiring the first General Manager of the Gaylord Pacific with this announcement. A hotel opening of this magnitude necessitates that the on-property leader be not only capable, but truly dynamic," said Luke Charlton, Chief Operating Officer of RIDA Development Corporation. " With Scott joining the Gaylord Pacific family as its first GM, we're both confident and optimistic about its future success."
