Grand Ole Opry Show

1925

WKY Radio begins broadcasting the "WSM Barn Dance" in Nashville, TN later to be renamed the Grand Ole Opry show—the iconic namesake for our first hotel.

1977

Named after the Grand Ole Opry "Home of Country Music," Opryland Hotel opens with 578 guest rooms, marking the beginning of our hospitality journey.

Gaylord Hospitality Brand

1983

Oklahoma Publishing Company, led by brand namesake Edward L. Gaylord, acquires the Grand Ole Opry, WSM Radio, and Opryland Hotel, laying the foundation for a future hospitality brand.
Cascades Atrium

1988

Opryland Hotel debuts the Cascades Atrium, expanding the resort to 1,891 guest rooms and adding 6 meeting rooms, 40,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space, a grand ballroom, and 12 retail shops. 
1991 - Gaylord Entertainment Company

1991

Gaylord Entertainment Company (GET) is established as an independent, publicly traded company following its spin-off from Oklahoma Publishing Company.
Delta Atrium

1996

Opryland Hotel expands with the opening of the Delta Atrium, boosting capacity to 2,888 guest rooms and more than 700,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space. Today, this resort remains the largest in the portfolio.
Gaylord Palms

2001

Opryland Hotel is renamed Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center as Gaylord Hotels emerges as a brand with the groundbreaking of Gaylord Palms.
Signature Christmas Experience

2001

The immersive Christmas experience, ice!., debuts at Gaylord Opryland. The event brings beloved holiday stories to life through the master artistry of ice carvers from Harbin, China and lays the foundation for what would become a signature holiday tradition across the brand.

Gaylord Palms opens in Kissimmee

2002

Gaylord Palms opens in Kissimmee, FL with 1,406 guest rooms and 400,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space.

Gaylord Texan opens in Grapevine, TX with 1,511 guest rooms and 400,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space. 
Gaylord National -2008

2008

Gaylord National opens in National Harbor, MD. Situated along the Potomac River, just outside Washington, D.C., features 1,996 rooms and 501,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space - the largest combined hotel and convention in the region. 
2012 Marriott International

2012

Marriott International enters into an agreement with Gaylord Entertainment (GET) to acquire the Gaylord brand and assumes management, aligning the brand with the worlds largest travel company. GET converts to a REIT as Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc. (RHP) and retains ownership of the hotels and entertainment assets.
2015 Gaylord National

2015

Gaylord National expands its meeting and events space with a new 24,000 sq. ft. ballroom with spectacular views of the Potomac River. 
2018 Gaylord Opryland

2018

Gaylord Opryland opens SoundWaves, an upscale water park experience with 217,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor water attractions and activities. 
2018 Gaylord Texan

2018

Gaylord Texan debuts Vineyard Tower, adding 303 guest rooms for a resort total of 1,814 and 86,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space. 
2018 Gaylord Rockies

2018

Gaylord Rockies opens in Aurora, CO. With 486,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space, 1,501 guest rooms, and picturesque views of the Rockies, the Gaylord Hotels expansion to the West takes shape.

Gaylord National completes an extensive $64M renovation to all 1,996 guest rooms and suites, inspired by the Capital region. 
2024 Gaylord Palms

2024

Gaylord Palms finalizes a $134M renovation, featuring 1,400 updated guest rooms, a newly designed lobby, refreshed dining outlets, and two enhanced ballrooms. 
 2024-Gaylord Rockies

2024

Gaylord Rockies completes a multi-year investment, adding a new game lawn, enhancements to the Grand Lodge, reimagined food & beverage outlets, and over 41,000 sq. ft. of interior and exterior event space.

Gaylord Opryland begins a $131M expansion, adding approximately 108,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space. This investment also includes a new 550-seat sports bar, outdoor event lawn, and pavilion. 
2025 Gaylord Pacific

2025

Marriott International partners with RIDA Development Corporation expanding the brand to the West Cost with the opening of Gaylord Pacific in Chula Vista, CA. The resort boast 1,600 rooms, a 4.25-acre water park, and 477,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space along the San Diego Bay.
