2003-2006 AAA Four-Diamond Award Winner
Every year, AAA's full-time professional field representatives conduct unannounced visits and evaluate accommodations throughout North America. Those facilities that qualify are assigned an overall rating of one to five diamonds. AAA diamonds are a reflection of quality, level of service, and range of facilities. A Four Diamond rating is considered outstanding, as recipients of this honor consistently exceed the association's requirements by providing skilled and attentive staff, a high level of guest service, and top-of-the-line amenities and ambiance. Only an estimated 3% of the nearly 27,000 AAA-rated properties achieve this distinction. Only a handful of resorts in Texas share the Four Diamond distinction with Gaylord Texan.

City's Best 2005
AOL City Guide
"Most Romantic Restaurant"
Ama Lur Restaurant

"Some may think the cuisine at the Gaylord Texan is overshadowed by the impressive setting -- acres of landscaped grounds, lush gardens and regional atmosphere. These people obviously haven't tasted the celebrated Nuevo Latino handiwork at the resort's Ama Lur, located in the Texas Hill Country section. Set under the sprawling glass atrium, with indoor and simulated patio seating (it's all actually indoors) Ama Lur offers a mix of Latin, Portuguese and Spanish cuisine."

2004 Top Ten New Restaurants
The Dallas Morning News
Old Hickory Steakhouse

The editors wrote: "Chef Tom Fleming is in his groove at the flagship dining room of the mammoth Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine. A veteran of top local restaurants, including the late Riviera, he doesn't let the steakhouse designation limit his creativity. His interpretation of staples such as creamed spinach (light on cream and lovingly topped with pancetta shards) elevates his restaurant above the expected cow palace. Don't miss the West Texas shrimp salad made with shellfish raised in landlocked saltwater ponds in the Permian Basin."

The Best Dessert
Old Hickory Steakhouse

The Lemon Cannoli was judged by the editors of the Dallas Observer to be the best dessert in 2004. Here's what the editors wrote – "Whisper-thin, flaky pastry scrolls are filled with smooth, transcendental stretches of citrus cream that sweep over the tongue with a quietly luxurious, cleansing tang."
