Gaylord Texan Resort’s Award-Winning Restaurants Present “Taste of the Texan” Culinary Tasting Event

GRAPEVINE, Texas—( May 21, 2008 ) As part of Gaylord Texan Resort’s annual SummerFest event, offering visitors a variety of live entertainment and culinary events, resort chefs will host “Taste of the Texan.” This unique program will provide visitors with an opportunity to sample creative cuisine at each of the resort’s restaurants including Old Hickory Steakhouse, Ama Lur, Riverwalk Café, and Texan Station Sports Bar & Grill.

As visitors stroll through the resort’s four-and-a-half acres of lush gardens under glass, their Taste of the Texan Passport will direct them to each chef station, where mouth-watering samples paired with two-ounce adult beverages will be freshly prepared. Once guests have made their way through each of the chef stations, their stamped passport will provide them with a complimentary dessert in any of the featured resort restaurants with the purchase of an entrée.

Taste of the Texan will be hosted every Saturday night from 4:00pm – 6:00pm during SummerFest, which begins May 23rd and runs through August 31st. The cost is $10 per person and includes a complimentary recipe card for visitors to take home.   • Old Hickory Steakhouse, the resort’s fine dining steak and seafood restaurant, will present Short Ribs paired with Tempranillo Wine.
  • Ama Lur, serving contemporary Southwestern-style cuisine, will present Crab Cakes paired with Sauvignon Blanc Wine.
  • Riverwalk Café, the resort’s market-style eatery, will present its famous Tortilla Soup paired with Prickly Pear Margaritas.
  • Texan Station Sports Bar & Grill, known for its 52-foot “big screen”, will present its Kobe Burger paired with Summer Beer.

In addition to Taste of the Texan, Gaylord Texan’s annual SummerFest event will feature Indoor Friday Night Firework Shows, a Glass Cactus “Summer Nights” Concert Series, Junior Chefs Camp for Kids, Outdoor Pool Parties, Wine & Cheese Pairings, Murder Mystery Dinners, and Strolling Entertainment.

CASH IN AT CHECK-IN! Adding to the fun, guests of Gaylord Texan who stay for more two or more consecutive nights with its SummerFest Room Package will receive $50 cash at check-in.
