Gaylord Texan Resort Offers Travel-Free Summer Fun with its Annual SummerFest Event

Grapevine, Tex.—( June 1, 2007 ) Gaylord Texan Resort invites adults and families to skip the expense of summer travel and instead experience a fun-filled vacation in their own backyard!

Hosted on weekends beginning July 4th – September 3rd, 2007, SummerFest will feature a variety of non-stop entertainment, events, and activities for those of all ages to enjoy. From pool parties and fireworks shows to cooking classes and aerial acrobat performances, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Not to mention the resort’s award-winning restaurants, retail shops, the Relache Spa, and new Glass Cactus nightclub located on the shores of Lake Grapevine.

STROLLING ENTERTAINMENT

Entertainment will vary throughout the day and include magicians, face painters, gun fighters, jugglers, balloon artists, the “Gold Cowboy,” a monkey show, singing cowboys, trick ropers, caricaturists, and more. MOTION IN AIR

POOLSIDE DIVE-IN MOVIES

When the sun goes down, our movie screens go up! Each Saturday night, the resort will help celebrate the summer season with a fun family movie for those of all ages to enjoy.

JUNIOR CHEF’S CAMP
Location: Gaylord Texan’s Ama Lur restaurant
Date & Time: 7/14, 7/28, 8/11, and 8/25 from 9:00am – Noon
Cost: $90 per child, per class. Price includes lunch for two adults, as well as an apron, chefs hat, and recipe cards for the Junior Chef. Each additional child is $45 per class.
Designed to introduce basic kitchen techniques and provide a hands-on opportunity to prepare popular and simple recipes, young aspiring culinary students will learn the secrets of the profession from Gaylord Texan’s Executive Chefs. Each Junior Chef will rotate throughout interactive kitchen stations learning techniques on table setting, serving styles and hands-on cooking specifics. At the program’s conclusion, parents will be invited back to dine in Ama Lur for a three-course luncheon, hosted and served by their very own “Junior Chef.”

WINE AND CHEESE PAIRINGS
Location: Gaylord Texan’s Old Hickory Wine Bar, featuring the Enomatic Wine System
Date & Time: Saturdays & Sundays from 3:00pm – 5:00pm
Cost: $45 per person. Must be 21 years of age and older.
Gaylord Texan’s team of specialists will share their insightful combinations of selected wines and cheeses for your enjoyment. Each course includes three half-glasses of Texas White Wines, three half-glasses of International Red Wines, and a selection of Artisanal Cheeses.

ADULT COOKING CLASSES
Location: Gaylord Texan’s Old Hickory Steakhouse
Date & Time: 7/7, 8/4, and 9/1 from Noon – 3:00pm
Cost: $45 per person
Learn how to prepare a variety of unique dishes from Gaylord Texan’s Executive Chefs! Special attention will be provided to each class participant, catering to those at all culinary experience levels. Each class offers take-home recipe cards.

LONE STAR MURDER MYSTERY DINNER THEATER
Location: Gaylord Texan’s Riverwalk Café restaurant
Date & Time: Fridays & Saturdays from 8:00pm – 10:00pm
Cost: $55 per person including show, dinner, and self-parking
If you have an appetite for dinner and a mystery, take a trip to the 1880s in the Original Lone Star Murder Mystery Dinner Theater's weekend production and help solve a murder. Riverwalk Café, our market-style eatery, offers an upscale buffet dinner.
