John Garland joined Gaylord Texan in February, 2010 in his current role leading the Accounting and Purchasing functions for the Texan. John has more than 30 years of hospitality industry financial accounting experience with major industry brands. Prior to joining the Texan, John spent 11 years with Starwood Hotels and Resorts earning seven promotions and transfers. From two years beginning in early 2008, John served as Director of Finance for the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando. Other previous positions include Director of Finance at the 481 room Westin Aruba Resort, Controller of Westin Innisbrook Resort in Tampa, FL and Resort Controller of the Westin/Sheraton Our Lucaya Resort on Grand Bahama Island. John also served as the Southwest Region Area Controller overseeing fourteen hotels in four states from 2001 to 2002.
John earned his Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting from California State University in Fullerton, CA.
