The much feared Captain Blackheart returned to Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, Florida, to claim the treasure he had buried there many moons ago. But alas… his treasure was not to be found in the place he had left it! How could this be??

The Captain searched and searched for his lost treasure, only to find that a sly and clever guest of Gaylord Palms Resort had found his bounty during the Pirates Treasure Hunt Challenge last summer, and had absconded with it.

Embarrassed at having his treasure commandeered by mere landlubbers, the Captain vowed to scour the earth if he has to, to find treasure even grander than the one he had hidden at Gaylord Palms. But the Captain has one problem – he has no crew. Once they learned Captain Blackheart had no treasure, they mutinied and set sail, leaving the Captain behind.

But the Captain is quite a resourceful scoundrel. He’s counting on the guests of Gaylord Palms Resort to help him. If they were clever enough to find his treasure the first time, surely they can help him find all the great treasures of the world! He’s even offered a bounty - $10,000 to the matey who finds the most treasure (by accumulating the greatest number of points during the Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge).

Guests who are up to the challenge can join in Captain Blackheart’s great treasure seeking adventure – and the chance to compete for $10,000 - by participating in the Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge package. What a true challenge this will be!

The Challenge

Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge is a contest of skill that will give Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge package guests an opportunity to act, and think, like adventurous treasure seekers, as they traverse the resort and decipher clever clues, solve intricate puzzles and creatively tackle the final challenge.

The Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge has been designed to be family-friendly, great fun and extremely challenging. Clues and tasks will unfold over the course of your two-night stay at Gaylord Palms Resort. Families will rely on their wits and cunning - earning points as they solve the clues at hand. Points are assigned according to judging guidelines which will be revealed along with the clue. At the conclusion of the Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge the family that has accumulated the greatest number of points during their treasure hunt challenge will claim the prize - $10,000.

The team who has earned the second highest number of points will earn the second place prize of $3,500. The family/team scoring the third highest number of points will win a 3-night stay at any of our Gaylord Resorts in Nashville, TN; Grapevine, TX; National Harbor, MD and Kissimmee, FL.

Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge is a competition of skill with points awarded for each clue/activity related to the challenge. The family/team who has accumulated the greatest number of points at the conclusion of the event on August 28, 2008 will be deemed the winner of the Grand Prize of $10,000. One second prize of $3,500 will be awarded to the team who has earned the second highest number of points; and one third prize comprising a 3-night stay at any Gaylord Hotel (including Gaylord Palms, Gaylord Opryland, Gaylord Texan and Gaylord National) will be awarded to the family/team accumulating the third highest number of points. All participants will be required to watch an orientation video during which the official rules and regulations will be reviewed. All participants must sign agreement forms and waivers as required in order to participate. All rules must be strictly adhered to. Gaylord Palms reserves the right to disqualify participants for any infraction of the rules, with no refund. Decisions by Gaylord Palms related to the rules of the game are final, legal and binding. Just for the Kids!

An exclusive experience for our guests ages 10 and younger… a treasure hunt all their own! . While Mom and Dad are competing in the very challenging Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge, the kids can be engaged in a really fun activity designed just for them.
Totally kid-friendly clues provide our young Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge guests the opportunity to play pirate! All participants who solve the clues successfully will receive a small prize to commemorate their pirate adventure.

Little Pirates Treasure Hunt Challenge is available only to our Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge package guests ages 10 and under. Little Pirates Treasure Hunt is included with the Summer Treasure Hunt Challenge package, there are no additional fees to participate.
