Helmar joined Gaylord Hotels in 2001, as a member of the opening team for Gaylord Palms, serving as vice president of Finance.

He has more than 20 years of top hotel finance experience, including the position of chief financial officer and director of administration for Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando, where he was in charge of the planning, pre- and post-opening budgets, and implementation of systems and controls for the resort complex.

Previously, he was regional controller for Westin Hotels & Resorts and controller at the Walt Disney World Swan.
