Frist Center for the Visual Arts

A Nashville Tennessee Attraction

Offering something for everyone, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts is a renowned gallery and, equally important, an interactive art center. The Frist is located in a painstakingly restored Art Deco building with its own unique history-it was formally housed the downtown Nashville Post Office.

The center opened in April of 2001 with a vision to use art to inspire people to look at their world in new ways.

With an exhibitions schedule that has new art flowing through the magnificent Art Deco building every 6 to 8 weeks, the Frist Center was conceived as a family-friendly place, highlighted by the Martin ArtQuest Gallery. This colorful space teaches through activity, allowing museum visitors of all ages a fun and hands-on approach to art with 30 interactive stations to paint, print, and sculpt.

The popular Frist Center Café features a variety of delicious homemade soups, luscious desserts, salads, and sandwiches, making the Café a popular gathering place for brunch, lunch, afternoon snacks, and dinner on Thursday and Friday evenings when the Frist Center stays open until 9:00 p.m.
