A Nashville Tennessee Attraction
A 30-acre historic site that sites 6 miles west of downtown Nashville, the centerpiece of the Belle Meade Plantation is the Belle Meade Mansion.
This Greek revival house was home to five generations of the Harding-Jackson family and in the late 19th century the farm encompassed 5,400 acres and was one of the largest private estates in Nashville.
The farm served as a thoroughbred nursery, which became famous for breeding and training racehorses. The bloodlines for recent Kentucky Derby winners Funny Cide and Barbarro as well as the legendary Secretariat can be traced back to Belle Meade.
The Mansion is open to the public daily for tours.
