Nashville, Tenn.—( June 10, 2008 ) The original grassroots talent search to find the next country music superstar premiered its sixth season last night on NBC, with a cast of 12 acts vying for the top spot, three new mentor judges – John Rich, Jewel and Jeffrey Steele—and a new host famous in both the music and the television worlds—Billy Ray Cyrus.

Every Monday, June 16 through Aug. 4, 2008, live tapings take place in the Acuff Theatre on the Gaylord Opryland Resort complex. Country superstar and star of Disney’s popular television show Hannah Montana Billy Ray Cyrus will host this season of Nashville Star, joined by a panel of mentor judges, including acclaimed singer-songwriter, producer and one half of the country duo Big & Rich, John Rich; multi-platinum singer-songwriter and three-time Grammy nominee Jewel; and the 2007 Broadcast Music Inc.’s (BMI) Songwriter of the Year, Jeffrey Steele. And Gaylord Opryland Resort is giving guests the opportunity to be a part of all the excitement with getaway packages.
