Guests have the opportunity to participate in this event in two ways--and both support great causes. Each tree, sponsored by a business, is tied to a charity chosen by that sponsor. The trees feature major prizes, ranging in value from $500 to more than $7,000 and include restaurant gift certificates, airline tickets, guitars, electronics and hotel getaways among other items. For example, the Epiphone Tree is decorated with $6,000 worth of guitars, including an ICE! featuring How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
First,Hall of Trees visitors can vote for their favorite trees by putting donations in that tree's collection box on site in the hall. The sponsor of the tree with the most on-site donations will win a trophy and all of the donations for each tree will go to that sponsor's charity.
Also, Hall of Trees guests, and others interested in bidding on the trees, can participate in an on-line auction at www.halloftrees.com (the web site becomes active when the hall opens tomorrow). All proceeds from the auction will benefit charities including The American Cancer Society, Angel Heart Farm, Army Emergency Relief, Belle Meade Plantation, Boys and Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee, Donelson Senior Center for the Arts, The Gear Foundation, Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital, Musicians On Call, Nashville Alliance for Public Education, Nashville Humane Association, Nashville Ronald McDonald House, Nashville Songwriters Association International, Opry Trust Fund & Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, Nashville Zoo, St. Jude's Hospital, Second Harvest Food Bank, United Service Organizations, Weimeriener Rescue, and Wendy's Wonderful Kids.
