In honor of Theodor Seuss Geisel and Mrs. Audrey Geisel's commitment to literacy, Gaylord Opryland and Dr. Seuss Enterprises, Inc. have teamed up with the Tennessee Library Association, The Tennessee State Library and Archives, the Nashville Public Library System, and the YMCA Association of Middle Tennessee in this exciting ICE! Cold Cash for Libraries effort.
ICE!featuring How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is an interactive, walk-through exhibit of larger than life ice sculptures that will tell the book's story in 1.5 million pounds of intricately carved, colorful ice. ICE! is an annual feature of Gaylord Opryland's world-famous A Country Christmas©, but this is the first time it will feature the Grinch. Approximately 150,000 people from all over visited last year's ICE! attraction located at Gaylord Opryland and many more are expected this year from Nov. 15, 2007 - Jan. 2.
This is how ICE! Cold Cash For Libraries works. Children can pick up coupons for ICE! at their local Tennessee public library beginning in late October, then register for a library card, if they don't have one. All they have to do is show the library card when they come to ICE! for a $2 discount and present the coupon to have Gaylord Opryland send a $1 donation back to their hometown library. Gaylord Opryland is also providing free How the Grinch Stole Christmas! books to participating libraries.
Discounted overnight vacation packages will also be available for Tennessee library groups/families wanting to participate inICE! Cold Cash for Libraries starting in mid-August by calling 1-888-999-OPRY.
The list of participating Tennessee public libraries is attached.

ABOUT DR. SEUSS ENTERPRISES, L.P.
Executive Vice President Susan Brandt heads the Dr. Seuss Licensing and Marketing office. The primary focus of the office is to protect the integrity of the Dr. Seuss books while expanding beyond books into licensed merchandise. The licensing effort is a strategic part of the overall effort to strengthen and protect the relationship consumers have with Dr. Seuss characters. Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss) said he never wanted to license his characters to anyone who would "round out the edges." That is one of the guiding philosophies of Dr. Seuss Enterprises.
