Nashville, Tenn.—( March 5, 2007 ) As part of Gaylord Opryland® Resort & Convention Center's new Celebrity Chef series, satellite television’s Campfire Café open-fire cooking hosts, Pamela Alford and Larry Wiseheart, are stoking up the fires with unique cooking camps. This event is a series of exciting live, outdoor demonstrations of meals prepared entirely over an open fire. As author of the gourmet cookbook, Over the Open Fire, Alford updates this traditional method of cooking for recreation today.“What they create over an open fire is simply remarkable,” says Ken Groneck, director of special events and entertainment at Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. “The menus they develop for this interactive guest experience can include shrimp and tortilla soup, BBQ bacon-wrapped stuffed chicken breasts and even piña colada bread pudding. That’s some pretty serious inspiration for hiking back to the campsite the next time our guests take what they’ve learned and put it to the test outdoors.”
The television show Campfire Café appears on RFD-TV network, DISH Channel 9409 and DIRECTV channel 379 and select PBS stations. VIP guests of the event will receive a special open-fire gourmet dinner cooked under the stars, in addition to the cooking camp. In 2007, Campfire Café Cookin’ Camps will be held April 20-21; June 1-2, July 6-7 and September 21-22.
