Louise Mandrell's 'Joy to the World' Christmas Dinner & Show
Back by Demand for A Country Christmas at Gaylord Opryland
NASHVILLE, Tenn.—( September 22, 2009 ) Beloved country music artist Louise Mandrell is back by demand to spread her love of Christmas again in 2009 during Gaylord Opryland Resort's world-famous A Country Christmas. Tickets for the Louise Mandrell's 'Joy to the World' Christmas & Dinner Show are going quickly this season, after sold-out crowds last year watched Mandrell entertain with singing and dancing, comedy and drumming, and the show ended with glowing reviews."I've seen my share of entertainers, but I don't believe I've seen anyone with as much energy and spunk as Louise Mandrell. I'd even say Louise Mandrell gives the Rockettes a run for their money," said Whitney Self, CMT.com.
The traditional holiday production features the multi-talented Mandrell and her band as they bring lively Christmas music, complex choreography and light-hearted laughter together during an instrumental journey around the world.
"Christmas is a time to share with family and friends. I feel blessed that when Gaylord Opryland turns their grand hotel into a Winter Wonderland I have an opportunity to perform with my niece and nephew for enthusiastic audiences of old and new friends," Louise Mandrell said.
Mandrell has been a popular country music performer for more than two decades since she and her sisters debuted their Mandrell Sisters variety show in the 1980s.
"Louise Mandrell has incredible love for the meaning of Christmas, for performing and for her audience. All of that talent and passion comes across in every one of her performances. She makes A Country Christmas shine even brighter," said Pete Weien, senior vice president and general manager of Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center.
Mandrell is all about family, so she decided to put hers in the show. "The Master of Ceremonies is my nephew Matt Dudney, Barbara's [Mandrell] oldest son. We have worked together often, and my niece, Matt's wife, popular Christian recording artist and songwriter, Christy Sutherland, really adds such beauty and grace to our production."
The Louise Mandrell's 'Joy to the World' Christmas Dinner & Show includes a delicious holiday dinner featuring a menu created by award-winning Executive Chef Michael Swann. The dinner is served family-style in the A Country Christmas tradition.
One of country music's most successful female entertainers, Mandrell has been winning hearts for many years. She was no doubt shaped by her musical family, who started the Mandrell Family Band. It was during this time that Mandrell honed her skills playing instruments like the fiddle, bass, piano, guitar, banjo, synthesizer and clarinet. In the early 1980s, Mandrell gained even more attention with her string of hits and her stint on the popular television variety show Barbara Mandrell & the Mandrell Sisters. And Mandrell's theater in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. was home to the most successful show in that area for eight years.
Mandrell's list of hits include "I Thought You Never Asked," "Some of My Best Friends Are Old Songs," "Save Me" and "I Wanna Say Yes." She has been highly successful in the theater world, performing at the Grand Palace Theater in Branson, Mo., and at her very own, Louise Mandrell Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
Louise Mandrell's 'Joy to the World' Christmas Dinner & Show runs Nov. 21 through Dec. 25, 2009.
