The Radio City Christmas Spectacular™ graces the Grand Ole Opry® House stage

Nashville, Tenn.—( September 6, 2007 ) For three quarters of a century, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular™ has dazzled audiences, becoming an American holiday tradition. The highly acclaimed production, presented by Allstate® Insurance Company, is also a Gaylord Opryland® Resort & Convention Center tradition, as it comes back to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry® House for the sixth time. The Rockettes®, the world's most famous precision dance troupe, will perform 60 shows from November 15 through December 30, 2007, as part of Gaylord Opryland's popular A Country Christmas®, which brings almost 1 million people to the landmark resort each holiday season.

The Rockettes have been a legendary force in entertainment, with a rich history of skill and dedication to their craft. From their memorable USO Tours during WWII, to show-stopping Super Bowl halftime appearances, to the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade performances, to the 2001 and 2005 Presidential Inauguration Ceremonies, the Rockettes are a national treasure. The Radio City Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall, at Gaylord Opryland and in other cities, was first seen in 1933 and is now seen by more people in one year than most other live shows in North America - more than 2.1 million people annually see the women display their famous eye-high kicks and precision dance with the same enthusiasm and vigor that has become their trademark.

The Rockettes first kicked to life in 1925 as the "Missouri Rockets" and made their show business debut in St. Louis. The Rockettes performed during Radio City's opening night in 1932 and were an instant sensation.

The idea behind the troupe has always been to perform intricate routines, but always moving as "one dancer." Everything – the height, the costumes and steps – is kept completely identical.

The illusion of uniform height is maintained to this day by putting the tallest dancers in the center and gradually decreasing the height with the shortest women at either end.
