Gaylord Opryland's® Inaugural Wine Lovers Weekend Slated for Oct. 5-7, 2007

Nashville, Tenn.—( August 22, 2007 ) One needn't travel to the hills of France or to far-off Italian villages to taste really great wine. In fact, a passport is not even needed for those who fancy a bold Shiraz or a distinctive Riesling, as Gaylord Opryland® Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn., presents its inaugural Wine Lovers Weekend, Oct. 5-7, 2007.

During this weekend, exquisite wines will be flown in from some of the world's best vineyards and will be perfectly paired with unrivaled cuisine prepared by the award-winning culinary team at Gaylord Opryland. From receptions and dinners to a vineyard tour, guests may feel like they're in another part of the world, as they sample various exclusive wines they may not otherwise be able to try.

The weekend begins with a "Perfect Pairings" gathering on Fri., Oct. 5, where wines will be served with appetizers from Old Hickory Steakhouse, winner of the prestigious Distinguished Restaurants of North America (DiRōNA) award and the classic Italian restaurant, Ristorante Volare. On Sat., Oct. 6, Wine Lovers guests will tour the Arrington Vineyards just south of Nashville. This vineyard, opened by Kix Brooks of the country megastar duo Brooks & Dunn, is the only vineyard like it in the Middle Tennessee area. After the vineyard tour, guests will return to the resort, where they will attend a Hotel and Garden Reception underneath four acres of glass in the Delta Atrium. Surrounded by a quarter-mile-long river, tropical foliage and a New Orleans-inspired feel, guests will sample wines in a luxurious garden setting. The Wine Lovers Weekend wraps up with a beautifully appointed dinner at Ristorante Volare, where the ingenuity and creativity of Chef Maurizio Bussolino will truly make the flavors of Old Italy come alive.
