Grinch's Best Friend Needs a Home

ICE! featuring How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Spotlights Homeless Dogs with Max

Nashville, Tenn.—( July 25, 2007 ) The famed Christmas tale we have all come to know and love has been frozen for its 50th birthday at Gaylord Opryland® Resort & Convention Center this holiday season. ICE! featuring How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is a one-of-its-kind in the nation tribute to the furry green guy and his furry little friend, Max the dog. Dressed as his reindeer with red thread and a big antler on his head, Max stands by the Grinch's side at every moment-from the Grinch trying to steal Who-ville Christmas cheer to the moment when the Grinch realizes the true meaning of the season. This story would not be the same without man's (or Grinch's) best friend, and the story could not be retold without having a Max of its own.

Gaylord Opryland is proud to partner with the Nashville Humane Association (NHA) in providing Max to be the Grinch's friend during this icy Christmas tradition. This outgoing, friendly pup loves children of all ages and will accompany the Grinch at different promotional and community outings this holiday season, bringing smiles to everyone he will meet.

As nice as fame and fortune are, Max needs a home. This one-year-old brown Labrador/hound mix was brought to the NHA in search of a loving family who doesn't mind rubbing his belly or scratching his ears or playing fetch with him and his favorite toy, a purple hippopotamus.

"The Nashville Humane Association is thrilled for this opportunity to partner with Gaylord Opryland to provide Max for ICE! featuring How the Grinch Stole Christmas!," said Mary Pat Boatfield, executive director for the Nashville Humane Association. "He is such a wonderful dog with a fun-loving personality and would make a great pet for any family. We hope this venture will open the door of possibilities for finding a home for Max and other animals like him."

The NHA is one of the oldest service organizations in Nashville. This non-profit organization was incorporated in 1946 to protect the well-being of animals in Davidson County. The NHA is committed to promoting humane treatment of animals, finding good homes for stray or abandoned dogs and cats, educating the public about their responsibility to help control the pet population and providing treatment and care to ensure the well-being of animals in the community.

"Gaylord Opryland is committed to helping our community in many ways. Working with the Nashville Humane Association for this event seemed like a perfect opportunity to provide exposure to the animals so close to us who need loving homes," said Ken Groneck, director of special events and entertainment at Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. "We hope that using Max during ICE! featuring How the Grinch Stole Christmas! will help provide families to many of the homeless animals in Nashville and the surrounding areas."
