Gaylord Opryland Names New Vice President and Hotel Manager

Peter J. Weien joins property from ResortQuest.

Nashville, Tenn.—( June 19, 2007 ) Gaylord Opryland® Resort & Convention Center has appointed Peter J. Weien as vice president and hotel manager. Weien joins the landmark property from ResortQuest®, where he served as the chief operating officer and senior vice president for three years. With more than 25 years in the hospitality and service industries, he will oversee the day-to-day operations of the resort and support the nearly 4,000 STARS (the name which Gaylord Opryland employees are called) employed there.

“Pete has a proven track record and the expertise needed to help run this property. He will help set the pace as we continue to evolve to new levels of sophistication and extraordinary service,” said Arthur Keith, senior vice president and general manager of Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. “We are thrilled to have him on board.”

In his new role, Weien will be responsible for guaranteeing flawless customer service relating to the check-in process, concierge services and general hotel operations. Specifically, he will focus on ensuring guests are completely satisfied during their stay, which the company sees as possible through the satisfaction of its STARS. Weien will also help in overseeing the resort’s ongoing renaissance; which includes the additions of new food and beverage outlets and upgraded rooms, reflecting the new direction Gaylord Opryland has taken.

Before his Gaylord career, Weien worked for Harrah’s Entertainment in Las Vegas and Memphis, Tenn., for 12 years. There, he served as the general manager and senior vice president, vice president of corporate development and corporate director of gaming development. He also served as the senior director for the development of market planning for The Promus Companies, Inc. in Memphis and as a consultant to the Management Advisory Services for Laventhol and Horwath, where he gained extensive experience in managing hotels and resorts, restaurants and retail outlets.

Weien received his degree in hospitality management from Michigan State University. He and his wife Katie have been married for 17 years and have a son, Sam, age 10, and a beagle named Buster.
