Nashville, Tenn.—( May 11, 2007 ) America’s Smallest Chess Champs Compete
Some of the smartest elementary school students in the country are competing in the U.S. Chess Federation Elementary School Championship this week at the Gaylord Opryland® Resort and Convention Center. The tournament is Wednesday, May 9 – Sunday, May 13, 2007. The main event rounds are Friday at 1 and 7 p.m.; Saturday at 9 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m., and Sunday at Sunday at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. For more information, go to http://www.uschess.org/tournaments/2007/elem/. Like the Olympics for Pastry Chefs
The 2007 National Pastry Team Championship will be held July 2 and 3, 2007 at the resort. The prestigious13-hour, two-day competitions feature up to 12 teams, each with three professional pastry chefs. The National event is held in odd number years with the first-place team representing the U.S. in the World event the following year.
