Kevin Culp, Director of Information Technology
Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center

"Our goal in information technology is to complement sound business processes with efficient technology. We strive to provide superior service to our customers and to be a valuable resource to our co-STARS. Technology is wonderful and allows us to do some amazing things, but at the end of the day it is our STARS that will make the difference."

As the Director of Information Technology for Gaylord Opryland® Resort & Convention Center, Kevin Culp is responsible for leading the information technology department in providing technical solutions for customers. His team also works to increase the efficiency of business processes through technology. During his tenure at Gaylord Opryland, Culp has successfully built an IT team that is respected company-wide because of the knowledge that every team member possesses about the latest innovations and the best way to solve problems.

His interest in computers began when he was in the sixth grade. His school received its first Apple IIE, and since then, Culp has been engrossed with the machines. Culp credits his leadership skills to David Belotte, assistant vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Tennessee-Martin, who taught him that all business boils down to people, treating everyone with respect, listening when they speak, counting everyone’s opinion and building a team.

Before joining Gaylord Opryland, Culp served as director of information technology for Life Trust America, a Nashville-based healthcare company. While at Life Trust, he was responsible for the operations of data and telecom systems for sixty locations in eight states. At Life Trust, Culp spearheaded the development of a first-of-its-kind, web-based Senior Housing Management application, which garnered him a featured guest speaker role at the renowned Johns Hopkins University lecture series program.

Prior to Life Trust, Culp served as senior consultant for a banking software company, where his responsibilities included the design and implementation of network and database systems for companies such as South Trust, AmSouth and Chase.

Culp holds a bachelor’s of science degree in computer science from the University of Tennessee. When he is not at work, he enjoys photography, weight lifting and woodworking. He and his wife, Kathy, have a daughter, Olivia, and a son, Payton.
