Gaylord National Resort Kicks Off Second-Annual ‘SummerFest’
National Harbor, Md—( May 21, 2010 )This summer, Gaylord National Resort will become the epicenter of “All-American Fun” as it hosts SummerFest – an exciting line-up of special events, one-of-a-kind activities and unique entertainment. From May 21 to September 6, SummerFest sizzles at the grandest waterfront resort in the Washington D.C. region, where guests can experience everything from a FREE fireworks show over the Potomac River every Saturday night, to a lively Sunset Celebration at the pool, to jaw-dropping Monumental Sand Sculptures on display in the atrium and close-up encounters with Madame Tussaud’s Wax Figures in the lobby. There’s even live music and a new patriotic fountain show featuring a salute to “Old Glory.” Whether guests come for a quick visit or a multi-night stay, SummerFest will bring together the best of “All-American Fun” this summer. - Saturday Night Lights - Free Fireworks Show! - Guests will be dazzled by a free fireworks show over the Potomac River. Whether watching from their atrium-view guest room or the resort’s waterfront lawn, it’s an unforgettable way to end a summer night. (Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. No coolers, glass, or outside food and beverages allowed on hotel property, including waterfront areas.)
- Monumental Sand Sculptures - professional artists transform 25 tons of sand into giant, indoor sand sculptures featuring the Washington D.C. monuments and patriotic scenes. Stroll throughout the resort to discover these extraordinary works of art.
- George Washington & Abe Lincoln Wax Figures - See them up close and personal at this exclusive display provided by Madame Tussauds Washington D.C. Guests can meet these stunning, life-size wax figures all summer long in the hotel lobby.
- American Fanfare Fountain Show - Don’t miss our amazing atrium water fountain that “dances” to patriotic music. On Friday and Saturday nights, an enhanced show also features a special salute to “Old Glory” with the dramatic unfurling of a 50-foot U.S. Flag. (8 p.m. nightly)

Our indoor/outdoor Junior-Olympic sized pool and outdoor sundeck will become the setting for two special nighttime events (open to resort guests only):
- Sunset Celebration - don’t miss this summertime soiree featuring live music, and food and drink specials at the Pool Bar (Fridays & Saturdays, 6-10 p.m. Resort guests only.)
- Dive-In Pool Movies - relax by the pool and enjoy a family movie on a large screen. (Nightly, 8:30-10 p.m. Resort guests only.)
